Our True Purpose – the Meaning of Our Lives

If you have ever asked yourself what is your true purpose, it only means you have proven yet again that you are Homo sapiens, that is knowing man/woman, the only creature on this planet capable of reasoning.

However, biologically speaking (and in my particular opinion), the answer is fairly simple. We are here to extend our genes and have the best possible offspring we can have - one that will survive wars, hunger, possible alien attacksJ, who knows. As Darwin wrote, it is all about “survival of the fittest”.

Now, you may say – “Wait a moment. I thought that this is going to be the story how to discover our unique purpose on this planet, the one that helps us reach utter satisfaction and leave this world the better place.” Well, yes. I believe that we all have our unique drive in life. But that is something one calls “my life’s mission”. And I agree. We can feel lost without defining that one too.

However, I can tell you from my own experience and from experiences of people I came in contact with, that it can be quite painful not knowing what the main reason of our existence on this planet is. We can mix up our priorities, not know what we should really do in life and “feel like an empty shell” as once my co-worker put it in her moment of desperation, I guess.

So, if you really think about it, why are we really working, exercising, buying new clothes (when we have no place in our closets for it), buying huge houses even though we are single and don’t need quite a lot of space, buying new cars, the most recent gadgets and all those things men like to call “chick magnets”? And why would they really want to attract the ladies? One and only answer is to reproduce themselves and not just reproduce themselves but reproduce in a way to create the best possible offspring.
See, when you strip their lives out of all material things that surround them, men as well as women, live their lives so that they can continue human species by having a baby that will have the best possible combination of their genes and genes of another human being, thereby creating a new generation of humans better equipped to survive changing conditions.
This theory confirms itself over and over again in real life. I have recently read a story about a woman who had a huge problem with antibodies in her system, such that would mix up her being pregnant with being attacked by abnormal cell growth and would start eating her fetus.
The doctors considered this being so threatening to her life that they recommended her not having a child at all. However, she not only did have a child after everyday grueling treatments of those antibodies but she ended up having second one four years after losing one child and three years after having her firstborn.

Now, the urge to have a child is not this strong in everyone. Some people feel it strongly and others influenced by beliefs they were growing up with, or by everyday life, don’t feel it at all.

However, if we were really to think about it, there's no other reason for us to exist on this planet. We are merely dust in this vast Universe and how we would really leave a trace of our existence is by recreating better and fitter version of ourselves. Now, it’s not yet socially acceptable to have children with different men or women but, if you think about it that is the only way we can have a child with the best genes. We never know who we are going to meet in the future and if the guy/girl in the future will have better characteristics than the present one. I know that some of you may think about all hungry children in the world, child molesters, about parents who are doing gruesome things to their children but let me tell you something. That’s all unfair, unjustifiable but something biologists call "natural selection". However, all these things do not negate our only and true purpose. And plus, the world really is beautiful place to bring a child to. Just listen to Luis Armstrong and “What a Wonderful World”J))

Really, think about something you enjoy the most and then think about being able to enjoy it with your child; to open yourself unconditionally to someone and being inspired by that little creature to show more love, compaction and care, and LEAVE THIS WORLD THE BETTER PLACE, it already fulfills part of your mission, doesn’t it?

Don’t worry about planet being overcrowded. There are so many places on this planet that are almost empty of people. Our planet is truly abundant and we are such an adaptable species that we managed to survive throughout thousands of years in different climates and varying environmental conditions so that we populate most world regions. Enjoy your life and think about your true purpose.

I wish you to fulfill it from the bottom of my heart.
