Walking and Meditation

The summer is here and I’m not writing as much.:) It’s kind of nice to spend time outside. But I have not forgotten you. I’m here to encourage you to go outside as much as you can. Walking is always good thing to do.

It gives us quality time that we can devote to making important decisions and thinking of ideas, but also we can use it to relax. Very early in the morning, when the day is nice and traffic noise has not flooded the streets yet, when it's still possible to hear the birds chirping, go for a longer or short walk during which you will be able to meditate.

  • Begin by simply being aware of your surroundings, of the nature. Notice the blue sky, the mood you are in, the trees, the way the breeze touches your skin, the sounds that surround you.
  • Breathe deeply and steadily, while taking steady, slow steps. Consciously, begin to turn off your thoughts.
  • Focus on your breathing. Inhale while you take two or three steps, and then exhale taking another two or three steps.
  • If your thoughts start come bursting into your mind, just ignore them.
  • Soon you will be fully concentrated on your breathing and walking, and you'll feel as relaxed as if you were sitting in a comfy armchair.

Take time to enjoy this feeling of complete emptiness of your mind and relaxation of your moving body. During this meditation it may happen that certain messages appear in your head, but not as thoughts, because your thoughts are turned off, but as a facts or feelings.

Continue to walk until you feel good about it then gradually return to the state of consciousness.
